Overview
This setup combines Business Basic (No Teams) with Copilot Business. The base subscription includes business email, 1 TB of cloud storage per user, and web and mobile Microsoft 365 apps, while the AI layer helps users handle routine work faster inside the same environment.
That structure is useful when a company has already standardised on an external communications service and does not want overlapping collaboration tools inside the Microsoft licence. Instead of paying for a broader bundle, the business can keep the core plan lighter and add AI where it supports real day-to-day work.
Best For
- Companies that already rely on another service for telephony, meetings, or internal chat.
- Teams that work mainly in browser-based and mobile Microsoft 365 apps.
- Businesses that want business email, cloud storage, and web productivity in one subscription.
- Smaller teams looking for a lower-cost Microsoft 365 option that can still support Copilot.
Included Tools
The Business Basic (No Teams) side includes custom business email, 1 TB of cloud storage per user, and web and mobile versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. It also includes additional business apps such as Bookings, Planner, and Forms.
The Copilot Business side adds AI-powered chat connected to work data and Copilot features for customers with a qualifying Microsoft 365 base plan. In everyday use, this supports quicker drafting, clearer summaries, and more efficient handling of repetitive information tasks.
Why It Fits
This combination works well when the company wants Microsoft 365 for email, files, and online document work, but has no reason to include Teams in the base subscription. It is often a better licensing fit than buying a broader plan and leaving part of it unused.
It also gives smaller businesses a clear way to add AI without moving everyone to a desktop-led plan. For teams already working in shared files, Outlook on the web, and lightweight app workflows, Copilot supports the setup that is already in place.
Before You Buy
This product is best suited to teams that are comfortable working without Teams in the subscription and without installable desktop Office apps. If users need desktop Word, Excel, Outlook, or PowerPoint every day, another base plan is usually a better fit.
Copilot Business requires a separate license for an eligible Microsoft 365 plan, and Business Basic is one of the supported options. Microsoft’s business plan family is intended for organizations with up to 300 users.
