Process
- Planning and Preparation
- Initial kickoff meeting to outline objectives and timelines.
- Comprehensive source system health check.
- Creation of user accounts or configuration of AD Connect in the destination tenant.
- Detailed pre-migration planning to minimize downtime.
- Email Migration
- Pre-staging migration: emails older than 30 days are moved in advance.
- Final migration: includes calendars, contacts, rules, and other mailbox data.
- Switching MX records to the new tenant.
- Post-Migration Tasks
- Validation of mailbox integrity and functionality.
- Configuration of Exchange Online Protection and mail flow rules.
- Removal of source tenant licenses and cleanup of DNS records.
Responsibilities
IT Partner
- Export resources from the source tenant and import them into the destination tenant.
- Configure UPN and primary SMTP addresses for migration.
- Perform mailbox migrations and update domain zone records.
Client
- Provide global-admin access to both source and destination tenants.
- Prepare networking equipment (firewalls, load balancers, etc.).
- Assist with DNS configuration and identify high-risk users.
Results
- All users can access their email seamlessly from any device, anywhere.
- Mailboxes, contacts, and calendars are successfully migrated without data loss.
- Exchange Online Protection is configured and operational.
Limitations and Additional Services
This service does not include user training, corporate document migration, or desktop software configuration. These can be added as separate projects.
