This migration endeavour warrants the utilization of diverse tools, scripts, and services, with the guidance of expert assistance or reliable migration tools recommended to ensure a seamless and prosperous transition while safeguarding against potential data loss or corruption risks.
IT Partner's Responsibilities:
- Strategize and prepare for the migration, conducting a comprehensive assessment of the environment and establishing the target tenant.
- Configure both source and target environments, encompassing permissions setup and creation of migration batches.
- Oversee the migration process, monitoring progress diligently, and verifying the successful transfer of data.
- Execute post-migration tasks such as DNS updates or reconfiguration of client devices to ensure a smooth transition.
- Endeavor to minimize user involvement throughout the migration process to streamline operations.
Client's Responsibilities:
- Designate a dedicated point of contact to collaborate effectively with IT Partner throughout the migration journey.
- Coordinate external vendor resources and schedules as necessary to facilitate the migration process.
- Furnish temporary access to the existing IT infrastructure to facilitate the migration endeavour.
- Undertake the configuration of network equipment and perform requisite DNS alterations to facilitate the migration.
- Disseminate pertinent information to users regarding impending changes and provide necessary support.
Additional Cost Items Not Covered:
- Any requisite tasks exceeding the project scope.
Prerequisites:
- Ensure the target tenant possesses a valid Office 365 subscription and requisite licenses.
- Verify the proper configuration of both source and target environments, including synchronized user accounts and mailboxes.
- Confirm the availability of adequate storage space in the target tenant to accommodate the migrated data.
- Align custom settings from the source to the target tenant to maintain consistency.
- Conduct a comprehensive test migration and draft a meticulous migration plan outlining the steps to be undertaken during the migration process.
Plan:
- Commence with a kick-off meeting to inaugurate the migration initiative.
- Identify users earmarked for migration, delineate environment mappings, and establish the target tenant.
- Create migration endpoints, administrative accounts, and instigate migration batches to initiate the migration process.
- Vigilantly monitor the progression of the migration and ensure the seamless transfer of data.
- Culminate with follow-up discussions and project closure to assess success and address any outstanding concerns.
Success Criteria:
- Accomplish the successful migration of all In-Place Archive data, including messages, folders, and metadata.
- Ensure the absence of data loss or corruption, thereby guaranteeing accessibility and usability for users in the target tenant.
Mitigate disruptions to user access and functionality, thereby facilitating a smooth and uninterrupted migration experience.
